Navigating life with a newborn can be uncertain and overwhelming. Not only are you learning to care for your baby, you’re learning to care for the new mother in this unfamiliar season. This course will encourage parents to slow down and cherish the vital mother-baby relationship. It will cover the essentials of breastfeeding and newborn care but also the physical, emotional and mental healing after delivery. Most importantly, it will give parents the assurance that they intuitively have the ability to nurture and support their new family.

Postpartum Coaching
How much spit up is normal? Is my baby's poop supposed to look like this? And why am I waking up with night sweats? How can I support my partner after birth? The postpartum period can be overwhelming and scary because there are so many unique challenges, but learning to listen to cues from your baby and your body can be transformative and empowering! Having an experienced voice available to answer questions and calm your fears will bring peace and confidence to your first weeks with your newborn.

Birth Doula

About Elaine
Born and raised in RVA, Elaine has been a practicing doula for almost 15 years, intentionally guiding and leading women holistically through the child bearing year. She received her professional birth doula training and certification through ALACE/ToLabor with Thérèse Hak-Kuhn, her postpartum doula training with DONA International, and her childbirth educator certification through The Academy of Certified Birth Educators. In addition to her certifications, Elaine routinely continues her education with complementary workshops including rebozo, acupressure, Spinning Babies, and lactation training. Elaine is passionate about women discovering their strength and confidence in birth, and to be able to say after delivering, “If I can do that, I can do anything!” She homeschools five amazing, sparkling, clever kids with her husband, Aaron, and her personal experience only bolsters her intimate knowledge and empathy for the birth process. Elaine loves dancing to good music, travelling and making core memories, and making homemade pizza with her kids on Friday nights.
